Saving Energy | Turning Down Your Hot Water Heater

Saving Energy | Turning Down Your Hot Water Heater
Water heating accounts for almost close to 18% of your utility bill. Four ways to cut your water heating bills is
1. Use less hot water
2. Turn down the thermostat on your water heater
3. Insulate your water heater
4. Buy a new, efficient model

These steps, via Energy.gov, span both short term and long term saving. These saving are both economical for you and environmentally friendly.

Turning down your hot water heater is as simple as changing the temperature from 140 degrees Fahrenheit (what most are set to) to 120 degrees. This lower temperature is more than okay for any household, and  a barely noticeable change.

Also, when leaving for vacation, don't forget to turn your hot water heater off!
