Solar Power

Solar power is a form of alternative energy that results from the conversion of sunlight into energy, either directly or indirectly. The difference between passive and active solar technologies depends how they capture, convert, and distribute solar energy. Solar energy has been used in architecture and urban planning, along with transportation around the world. It is used commonly for heating of homes and water for homes.

SolarEnergy.com is an amazing resource when it comes to solar power for the home. They explore both the residential and commercial options of solar power, and explain every aspect of both. They have endless information regarding the technology of solar power and even cool solar products anyone could own.

When considering solar power, ask yourself "Who Owns My Sunlight?"

SEIA is also a great resource when it comes to solar energy. They have information from the technology behind solar power to finding installers.

Community Power can make a large difference in your neighborhood. One great example is when two boys in Washington D.C.'s Mount Pleasant neighborhood questioned why, if the climate change was such a large topic, were there no action being taken to simply put solar panels on their roof. With some help, they were able to put this idea into action. Over the span of a couple years, after organizing members and lobbying for new local energy policies, the district passed landmark legislation that made residential rooftop PV systems more affordable. One of the members then went on to start the Community Power Network in 2011, which grew into a national network with more than 90 independent community and non profit organizations across the country.
